1st Sunday of the Great Lent

SLAVA ISUSU HRISTU! GLORY BE TO JESUS CHRIST!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

In today’s Gospel (Jn. 1:43-51) Philip told Nathanael: “We have found the very person Moses and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth.” The Great Lent, in which we are officially now, is nothing else but “finding” Jesus in our lives. Finding Him in our daily prayers, in Holy Eucharist, in reading His Holy Word. We can find Jesus in mortification of the body through the fasting and giving up some things in lives that are the obstacles for better relationship with Him. We can find Jesus in our brothers and sisters that are less fortunate physically or spiritually. With paying attention to their needs, not only ours, we will be closer to our Lord who commanded us to love one another.

Let us use wisely this time, let us do all that is needed to put our lives on the path of loving our merciful Father in Heaven.

God’s blessing upon all!

Fr. Janko!
