The delivery of the “flamingoes” will take place on each of 5 days from July 21 till July 25. We like to call this “Flamingo Week”. This means each entry could win up to 5 times, and your flamingoed entries could therefore have their front lawns populated by spectacular birds for 5 days!

Who can I “flamingo”?
Anyone and Everyone so long as they have both an address and an email. We do reserve the right however to not flamingo people who are too far away for us.
What if the person I want to nominate doesn’t have a lawn?
If there is no lawn, we will bring a pot of dirt, and put just a few flamingoes near their door. No problem.
When can I flamingo my friends, family and co-workers?
Right now is good. Just do it before this fundraiser ends at the end of July.
When will the Flamingoes be put on the “lucky” people’s lawns?
On “Flamingo Week” which is July 21-25.
How many flamingoes do we have access to?
Over 100, but I don’t know if all of them will be used at the same time.
What if I bought insurance and someone else puts flamingoes on my lawn?
Well… we can only tell you that if you have a valid insurance policy protecting you from our flamingoes, that we will not put any flamingoes (or other lawn ornaments) on your lawn during Flamingo Week. We however will not be able to prevent others from doing so.
What if the person I want to nominate doesn’t have an email?
Hmmmm… this is a little bit of a problem. In order for that person to be warned and to have a chance to participate they would need access to a computer, tablet, or phone and have an email.
Can I get a tax receipt for getting insurance or nominating people?
Nope. Sorry. You can only get a tax receipt if you make a donation to a registered charity such as the parish. Unfortunately our new Outreach Team is not a registered charity.
Can I make a donation towards this initiative without putting anyone into the draw barrel, and without getting insurance?
Yes I believe we can accept donations through the Church. Please put it into an envelope and clearly label it as “a donation towards the Outreach Team to support the Flamingo Fundraiser.” just like you would a regular donation to the parish. I will need to ask our treasurer if this could earn you a tax receipt however. Stay tuned.
What information will you need to collect from me?
To flamingo someone, you will need to provide us with your name and email, as well as their name, email and address. If you want insurance you will need to provide us with your name, email and you address.
Will the information be shared with others?
Nope. We will not share this information with anyone.
How will you be collecting the money?
It will all be done securely online. You can make the transaction with PayPal or any credit card.
How long will the flamingoes be on the “lucky” people’s lawns?
About 12 hours… We will set them up in the morning and collect them in the evening.
Can I nominate someone from outside of Edmonton?
You can…. but we are only willing to drive within Edmonton, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Stoney Plain, and Spruce Grove to plant our flock of flamingoes and pick them up again. Further than that… they are likely safe from getting the flock on their lawn.
What if they get drawn but really don’t want flamingoes on their lawn.
If they don’t want to support us by purchasing “Anti-Pink-Flamingo Insurance” and they do not want the flock of birds on their lawn, and if they happen to get drawn, then… they can simply ask us to remove the birds from their lawn. Our goal is to have fun and raise some funds for needy kids, not to upset people.
Who will benefit from this fundraiser?
All the proceeds of this fundraiser will go to needy children and perhaps their families as chosen by a School Social Worker in one or more of our Edmonton Catholic Schools. We will not share the names of the individual children nor families who get fed as this would be inappropriate.
Does the whole amount that I give go to this outreach endeavour?
Almost. We will give all the money we collect, but unfortunately there are service fees that are collected through the payment system.
Didn’t Camp Oselia do this fundraiser a few years ago.
Yup, Fr. Bo set it up for them and others, and now our parish’s Outreach Team is doing it.
