Thomas Sunday

Hristos Voskres! Christ is Risen!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

Today is the Sunday of Doubting Thomas. He was the one of the apostles who was absent at the first apparition of the Risen Christ among His chosen followers. Last Sunday many people celebrated gloriously Easter. I wonder how many are still living in the joy of Resurrection and how many quickly became like St. Thomas in today’s Gospel (Jn. 20:19-31), who said that he won’t believe because he doesn’t see. Many people stopped seeing goodness and love of our Lord right after Easter because their eyes became darkened by their daily ways of life: Daily preoccupations, worries and difficulties of life. To them and to those who still try to live in the joy of the Risen Christ, our Lord is saying again and again, as He did to the apostles: “Peace be with you!” With His resurrection Jesus is giving us peace and invites us to exclaim all the time: “My Lord and my God!” Let us immediately stop doubting and live in the truth and joy of the Risen Christ now and forever.
